In this project students from the partner countries
will investigate about the local and traditional meals in the countries taking
part in the project and they will introduce those meals to each other through
different activities. As meals are the reflection of the society in many ways
such as religion, culture and traditions, the students will also be equipped
with cultural aspects of the partner communities. The project will be carried
out in the following way;
1. The students will search for the meals and they will collect information about how they are cooked or made. This will be carried out in a systematic way and as the project will last for two years, we will divide this period into four equal periods. In the first six months, we will focus only on soups and starters. The second six months will be allocated to main dishes, the third one will be about pastries and desserts and the last period will be about pies and drinks.
2. Before each visit, the students will prepare DVDs about the local dishes to show and exchange them with the students in the partner countries. They will record while the meals are cooked and then the DVDs are copied.
3. Before each visit, the students will also prepare flashcards including the recipes of the meals to be exchanged by the partner countries. Before the students will also prepare posters about the dishes and other kinds of food to be exhibited during the visits.
4. During the visits, apart from exchanging DVDs and flashcards and exhibiting the posters, the host country will serve its traditional meals to the guests and a meal contest will be carried out to determine the best meal cooked. The winner will be awarded.
5. After each visit, the host country will prepare a brochure including all the meals introduced by each country in each visit and this brochure will be copied and delivered to the partner countries in the following visit.
6. After each visit, we will publish the products of each country on our web site which we will set up to serve for our project.
7. In the last visit, each partner perform a theatre to display eating habits and lifestyles of their own communities.
Apart from the website, DVDs, the brochures, flashcards and posters, we will produce booklets, logos, power point presentations, questionnaires to evaluate the activities, a dictionary about the words related to ‘kitchen’ and a web based dictionary of meals so as to reach more people and a theatre at the end.
